Inside and Out: Trifold Morning Glories
Hello there and welcome back!
I just got another haul of some Altenew stamps and I'm feeling super creative so I decided to make two cards with similar ideas using the Altenew BAF: Morning Glory stamp set. I'm posting both the video and pictures of the cards (click below for the video). I will be entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This week the challenge is called Anything Goes and they are featuring Doodlebug products but unfortunately I don't have them in my stash 😟.
I chose to make trifold cards, one with a V-edge and one with a diagonal edge with my flowers overhanging. On the V-edge card (in coral colours) I used a scalloped rectangle die and did some partial die-cutting. And on the diagonal edge card (purple colours) I simple used a ruler and craft knife.
The purple Morning Glories were stamped with the Altenew Shades of Purple ink set. And the 'hello' sentiment was taken from the Altenew Flower Arrangement stamp set. I also added some Ranger Holographic embossing powder to the flowers for interest with a VarseMarker emboss pen. I did do some faint stamping of the 2nd layer of the flower and leaf in the white background, however it is hard to see it here.
In this card you can actually see that faint stamping on the white background. I used pigment inks which must've been why it is more visible. The sentiment is from the same stamp set as the first card, and I used a combination of the Altenew Tea Party and Red Sunset ink sets for the flowers.
The silver and gold backgrounds were done with some ink blending of Distress Oxide Antique Linen and Hero Arts Soft Granite ink. Then I added some Perfect Gold and Perfect Pearl powders to each card, respectively. I could have just used some glitter or foil paper but I wanted to stamp my sentiment instead of die cutting.
On the inside I did some random stamping of the 2nd layer of the flowers and leaves to create a soft background effect. On the card with the lilac above I used the Altenew Green Fields ink set for the leaf and vine elements as I thought it went better with the purples.
On the card with corals I used the Altenew Green Meadows Ink set for the leaves and vines. I definitely would like to mention that those little vine stamps that this stamp set provides really help with creating detail to your flowers and it helps with creating a background like this where you need to fill in blank areas to continue the pattern.
I finished these cards up with some Studio Katia Gold Foil Confetti, iridescent clear white sequins, and small clear gems, along with some Ebony Black Nuvo Drops.
On these card insides I left space for an inside sentiment and space to write your own message. What I do is keep these filed away by type of card and when I need them, I just add my sentiment and message. After a while, I usually go through my cards and set aside any that I know I may not use. These get donated to "Send a Smile 4 Kids Canada". It's a nice gesture and other people get to enjoy my creations. If you are in Canada and would like to send your own cards you can find a link to their site for guidelines and mailing addresses on my Blog Home Page.
And there you have it! Hope you enjoyed this and subscribe to my blog if you would like to see more.
Below is a list of supplies and links to where you can find them. I know it is a bit primitive right now but until I get more of a following so I can justify getting InLinks here it is:
