Summer Love Scrapbook Page

Hello All!

Today I have a scrapbook page to showcase. I had this picture lying around for a while and want to add it to my daughter's scrapbook! It's from her first trip to Cancun Mexico and is perfectly themed for summer and, in this case, tropical flowers! I recently received my Altenew BAF Hisbiscus stamp set and thought I'd use it with Altenew's Totally Tropical stamp set to create this layout. I will be entering this project in the Altenew Sketch Challenge #10 and in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge called Fun In The Sun!

Please note that I will be adding a video for this post later but for now I'd like to get my post up so it can qualify for the Wednesday challenge!

So the first thing I did is choose my colours from the swatches that I have. It's important to plan out your colours especially with the BAF Hibiscus set because it does have 6 layers for the one flower image. And since Altenew Inks come in 4's you have to pull some colours from other similar sets of from other ink brands if you want. For my blues I chose to use the Altenew Sweet Dreams set with Volcano Lake and Starlight for blues. I also created another blue hibiscus in Altenew Deep Blue Seas with Sea Glass and Desert Night. For pinks I used the Altenew Cherry Blossom set with Puffy Heart and Purple Wine. For yellows, I used the Altenew Pocket Full of Sunshine set with Mango Smoothie and Rocky Shore. And for purples, I used the Altenew Shades of Purple set with Cosmic Berry and SSS Deep Purple ink. And for my greens, I used the Altenew Tropical Forest Set. And for stamens I used a mix of Altenew Warm Sunshine, Mocha and Orange Cream.

Then I stamped to my heart's content! It was a lot of fun! I just lined up my stamps in my MISTI and by rotating the paper I was able to stamp lots of images in little time. I used a few colours from each of the colour sets listed above to stamp out flowers from the Totally Tropical set as well. I then used the corresponding dies for the hibiscus images and leaves from that set. And I had to fussy cut the images from the Totally Tropical set since I don't have those dies. There are some dies I feel are truly worth buying and sometimes I like fussy cutting (it can be somewhat therapeutic), so for those sets I save my money so I can buy more stamp sets.

Once all my images were cut I simply laid them out on my 12" x 12" white cardstock page. I also cut my picture to size and placed that on my layout. Of course all my colours and layout were inspired by the Altenew Sketch Image shown at the beginning of this post. And my choice to use the tropical flowers was inspiration from the Simon Says Stamp challenge.

Usually I place all my images on my layout without adhering them, so I can move things around. And then I take a picture on my phone and use that as a guide to place the images in the same spots as I adhere them with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue and some foam adhesive squares. Once everything was adhered, I used some pink Darice Core'dination Glitter Silk cardstock with the Altenew Inline Alphabet die set to cut out the work "love". I then used the Concord & 9th Bold and Brushy Alphabet Uppercase Stamp set to stamp out the word "SUMMER" directly onto the cardstock. For this used Altenew Espresso and Perfectly Peach ink to create shadow letters.

And finally I added some clear square gems and small pink round gems all over the layout for interest.

And there is my layout! I hope something inspired you here and please leave a comment so I can see what you think. Also, feel free to subscribe because I will be adding a video for this project in the near future!
