Lilies, Lilies Everywhere | #AltenewFloweroftheMonth - Scrapbook Layout

 Hello there!

I have another post with a scrapbook layout this time. I especially made this for the #AltenewfloweroftheMonth social media challenge. And for May, the flower being featured is, the Lily. And I have lots of lilies in this post - all Altenew sets, so this post is Altenew heavy.

Let's dive in!

As always, I have a YouTube video below if you would like to see the process. If not, simply keep reading...

Creation of Die Cut Element

(Yes, I know I'm starting out with Tulips and this is supposed to be about Lilies! What was I thinking? Please see my explanation at the bottom of this post 😆 )

- stamp out 3 lillies, 2 leaves and 2 stems using the Altenew BAF: Parrot Tulips and Altenew inks: Spring Bouquet inks, Peach Perfect, Fuchsia, Cosmic Berry, Caramel Toffee (filament) and Warm Sunshine (anthers), Lime and Fresh Leaf (leaves) . Then cut out with coordinating dies

- Stamp out 3 flowers and 5 leaves using the Altenew BAF: Peruvian Lily ( I think this is discontinued) and Altenew inks: Pinkalicious, Rubellite, Razzleberry, (-flower type 1) or Lavendar Fields, Deep Iris, Midnight Violet (-flower type 2) and Peach Perfect, Hazelnut, Almond Butter, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate (filament) and Jet Black (Anthers). Then cut out with coordinating dies

- Die cut layers of Altenew CAF: Lily out of white cardstock coloured with Altenew Peach Perfect ink (1st layer), Pink DCWV Textured Brights cardstock (2nd layer), Pink DCWV Glitter Brights cardstock (3rd layer), Pink Tim Holtz Metallic Jewels cardstock (4th layer), and Black Darice Coordinations Glitter cardstock (stamen). Then cut out leaves and stem with light green DCWV Glitter Brights cardstock and Green DCWV Textured Brights cardstock

- assemble CAF lily and leaves with SSS Craft Tacky Glue

Background of Layout

- Stencil on floral image from Altenew Floral Drape Stencil, using Altenew Gray Denim and Silver Lake inks and a blending brush. I chose to position this diagonally across my layout.

- Create paint splatters using acrylic block and paint brush with a flicking motion with Altenew Silver Lake ink and Apple Barrel Misty White Acrylic paint.

-create paint splatters by tapping saturated paintbrush with Yasutomo Watercolour paints in black, cream and copper colours

-leave to dry

Matting Picture

- Choose an appropriate picture to feature in your layout. I chose a picture of 2 of my daughters, who had just decided to enjoy the backyard on a day that spring weather had finally set in.

-cut your picture to any desired size

- cut a piece of Sizzix Rose Gold glitter cardstock about 1/4'' larger than your picture

- cut a piece of Navy ClearPath 80lb cardstock about 1/2'' larger than your picture

TIP: To prevent wastage of cardstocks, especially the nice glitter one behind your pictures, I usually cut a smaller area behind your picture that won't be seen and keep it for future projects. This way you are actually using 2 rectangle cardstock pieces with the insides cut out. No one can see the missing sections because your picture covers this and you save some supplies!

- adhere the glitter cardstock to the navy cardstock and then the picture to the glitter cardstock

Sentiments

- cut out the "Spring has Sprung" sentiment using the corresponding dies from the Spellbinders Spring Flowers Card Creator die set using Blue ClearPath cardstock and Sizzix Rose Gold glitter cardstock

- Adhere blue sentiment die-cut to rose gold die cut in offset fashion

- Stamp out 2 sentiments "and so the adventure begins" from the Altenew Summer Swirls stamp set and "every time I think of you, I smile" from the Altenew Adore You stamp set, using Versamark embossing ink and SSS White Fine embossing powder on Blue ClearPath cardstock

-  cut sentiment strips to size

Layout Assembly

- Adhere matted picture onto layout where stenciling was done

- Arrange tulip and lily die cuts into 3 bunches on layout along with stems and leaves. Adhere using SSS Craft Tacky Glue

- Adhere "spring has sprung" sentiment die cuts with glue on right side of picture

- Adhere 2 stamped out sentiments with foam squares to open areas of layout

- embellish layout with Sizzix Blue Belle and Rose Gold Sequins

And that's my layout for today. I hope I've inspired someone in some way and that any shared tips will come in handy. See you again soon!

FYI - I don't know if you caught this but I only figured this out when typing this up, I actually mixed the parrot tulips and lilies in this layout when the flower of the month is just lilies. I have almost all of the Altenew flower stamp sets and my mind is reeling. Anyhow, I still have a couple lilies in here so please disregard my covid fog. Thanks!
