Orange Sherbet Washi Tape Border | Make the Cards Challenge #27
Hello friends!
Today's post is for the Make the Cards Challenge #27. This is another colour challenge with some nice bright yellows, orange and pink. Below I've posted a video and the challenge post. You can always click the challenge #27 link above to get back to the website and check out the details. And don't forget to check out the other designer's posts for inspiration and link your project for a chance to be this week's featured designer!
I am really in love with the washi from PinkFresh Studio and decided that their Joyful Bouquet Washi kind of fits with this colour theme. There's a bit of purple here but I tried my best to make sure the pinks, yellows and oranges were captured most. And by adding an orange/yellow ink blended background in the center, it really brings these colours to life for this card.
The creative process was really simple and is as follows:
- adhere washi tape to some thin cardstock, Neenah Exact 110lb
- Use PinkFresh Studio Joyful Bouquet coordinating die to cut out images
- Cut a 4- 3/4" x 6-3/4" light yellow Recollections cardstock panel
- ink blend cardstock with Distress Oxide Spiced Marmalade in center and fade out with Distress Oxide Wild Honey
- sprinkle panel with some water and remove water droplets with dry towel
- Foil using Spellbinders Aura Foil, the PinkFresh Studio Perfect Sentiments Foil plate, on white cardstock and cut out using coordinating die
- Arrange washi die cut images around the ink blended panel to create a border and adhere with BearlyArt Glue and foam squares
- cut off any overhanging images and save for card inside
-adhere the foiled sentiment to the center with foam squares
-embellish with PinkFresh Studio light pink and cream jewels
For the card center, I used left over items from the front and similar techniques...
- Cut a 10" x 7" center folded card base from heavy weight white cardstock
- ink blend on diagonally opposite corners of card inside with Distress Oxide Spiced Marmalade and Distress Oxide Wild Honey, just like the card front (fading into the white card center)
- Adhere leftover overhanging washi cut offs to each corner to continue the theme from the card front
-Stamp the sentiment from the Altenew Engraved Flowers Stamp Set using masking and Distress Oxide Kitsch Flamingo ink and VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink
-attach the front panel leaving a 1/4" white border to the card base
...and voila! Your card is done!
I absolutely love using these washi tapes for cards as they are easy to use and make for quick cards when you are at a loss for time.
I hope you've been inspired by this card and please feel free to leave a comment as I love hearing from you!
