Embossed Gradient Inked Backgrounds | Make The Cards Challenge 50
Hello Again!
This week's Make The Cards Challenge 50 is a technique challenge and I can't wait to use my Spellbinders large embossing folders!! As you may have guessed - it's all about embossing folders this challenge!

Instructions:
- Ink up a white cardstock panel (4.75" x 6.75") with inks from light to dark in the following manner and order:
Bottom 1/3 - Pigment Craft Co Aloe Ink
Midde 1/3 - Pigment Craft Co Juniper Ink
Top 1/3 - Pigment Craft Co Balsam Ink
I try to go over the area where the two inks join with each colour to allow for a nice blend and gradient. Keep in mind these are dye inks so they will look splotchy at first but once they dry the colour will even out.
- While the panel is still slightly wet, emboss it with the Spellbinders Optical Arches Embossing Folder
- Use Simon Says Stamp's Laurel Etched Dies to cut two laurels out of Sizzix Opulent Gold Pearl cardstock
- Use Simon Says Stamp's Happy Birthday Brush Script Die to cut the shadow out of vellum and sentiment out of Sizzix Opulent Gold Mirror cardstock ; Use Artist-tac dry adhesive to attach gold sentiment to vellum shadow
- Use the Spellbinders Mini Everyday Sentiments to foil the "from all of us" sentiment with Spellbinders Gold Foil and cut with banner die
- Attach the embossed background to a 5" x 7" side folding white card base with Tombow Dot Runner
- Arrange the laurels behind the Happy Birthday sentiment and use some Cool Tak Clear Foam to adhere the sentiment over the laurels. Use extra foam squares to attach the laurel leaves to the card
- Attach the small sentiment strip with a foam strip under the main sentiment and laurel leaves
- Embellish with Pinkfresh Studio Espresso Jewels
And that's my inspiration for this challenge! I hope the embossed gradient background idea appeals to you and that you can use it in your crafting!
I encourage you to check out the rest of the designer's inspiration and create your own card to link up to the challenge page for a chance to be the challenge winner.
As always, thanks for stopping by. And don't forget to leave me a comment, as I love hearing from you!
