Slimline Sympathy Flower Card | The Maker's Movement

 Hello Crafters and Welcome Back!

My card today is a Sympathy Card featuring the Stacking Flowers dies from The Maker's Movement! I don't usually make too many sympathy cards as it's a touchy subject but the products in the current release really make it easy to do!

To start I used the Stacking Flowers dies to cut 2 of each round of petals and the flower centers, along with the 2 leaves and leaf frond. I then set the die cuts back into the negative piece and adhered it on the back temporarily with washi tape. I then used my Altenew inks to add colour as follows, with a small blending brush:

- Leaves - Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades Altenew ink
- Flower petals - Rose Quartz, Puffy Heart, Soft Lilac, Lavendar Fields Altenew ink
- Flower centers - Butternut and Pumpkin Pie

I used my Spellbinders Tool N' One with the large stylus tip and a foam mat to shape the die cuts and adhered them together with Bearly Arts Glue.

For the background, I cut a white card panel 8.5" x 3.5" and used the Maker's Movement All Symmetry 6x6 Stencil to add colour in Misty Morning and Iceberg Altenew inks. I stenciled a portion of the panel, about one quarter on the left side of the panel and them moved the stencil right to cover the entire background. I did it this way so that the join between then end of one stenciled portion and the other would be covered by the flower. This way it looks like one continuous stenciled image.

I matted the stenciled panel onto a 8.75" x 3.75" navy cardstock panel and adhered this to a 9" x 4" white slimline card base.

For the sentiment, I used Maker's Movement With Sympathy die to cut the main sentiment out of gold mirror cardstock. There is also a shadow die but I opted not to use it for this card. I adhered the sentiment and flower and embellished the background with some iridescent gems. I then added some Diamond Stickles on the flower and leaves in select areas for a bit of subtle shine.

And that is how I created this sympathy card. I think the trick is to choose subtle colours without making it look too dreary. Afterall, you want to send a card this is going to console the recipient or help lift their spirits.
