Art Journalling with Creative Expressions Products

 Hello Friends and Crafters!

Okay, so I've decided to give art journalling a try and I'm pleasantly surprised! It's a very different way to express yourself creatively and I encourage you to give it a try. I love how freely artistic you can be and you also get to stretch the use of your cardmaking products. I also snook a card in this post made with the same products.

For this journal page, I started with ink smooshing some Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet and Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide Inks onto the page. Then to fill in the entire page, I added more Saltwater Taffy with a blending brush after drying the page with a heat tool. Don't worry to much about the paper warping, because once the page is dry you can alwys close the book and weight it down a bit to flatten the page.

I took the CE What A Mesh Mini Stencil and added some white acrylic paint randomly on the page. Once the paint was dry, I stamped out the floral image from the CE Designer Boutique Be Kind stamp Set with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

I mixed some CE Boulevard Lights Pixie Sparkles with water and splattered this onto the page with a paintbrush. I then, stamped out some of the smaller images from the CE Breezy Elements stamp set in black ink and fussy cut them out. I heat embossed the "Be Kind" Senitment on black cardstock in gold embossing powder and adhered it to the page. I also adhered the cut Breezy Element images around the floral frame and sentiment.

I then stamped out some more of the florals, butterflies and swirly images from the Breezy Elements stamp set to build it the floral frame. Finally, I used some Diamond Stickles to add shine to the floral die cuts and some Golden Rod Stickles to add some dots on the background.

I learned a lot from making this journal page, which is that building layers of paint and different media really makes the design stand out. Also, to just have fun and go with it, even if it's not neat or perfect!

Card

For my card, I ink blended a 5" x 7" white card panel with Shabby Shutters, Pine Needles and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink. I used the CE Loosely Leaves Mini Stencil and some white pigment ink to create the subtle leafy design in the background.

I stamped out the floral frame from the CE Be Kind stamp set in VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. Then, I used the extra images from the Breezy Elements stamp set to fil in the design. The sentiment was stamped from the CE Breezy Sentiments stamp set. I adhered the panel to a 5" x 7" white card base. And I finished this card off with some Diamond Stickles in the design and centers of the flowers and butterflies.
