Alcohol Ink Backgrounds | Creative Expressions Woodware

 Hello Friends and Crafters!

My projects today were made while having some fun with alcohol ink backgrounds. I made the Creative Expressions Woodware Seaside Dreamcatcher the star of the show with some heat embossing. And I made two versions of alcohol ink backgrounds; one on white Yupo and one on black cardstock. The alcohol pearl inks show up so nicely on that black cardstock and the vibrant colours on the white are also amazing! Each version has its own great qualities, which one do you like more?

Card 1 - Alcohol Pearls on Black Cardstock

For my first card, I decided to use some Alcohol Pearl Inks on Black Yupo Cardstock. Now this cardstoc is designed for alcohol inks so it's important to get the Yupo version or the alcohol inks won't move on the cardstock.

I used Ranger Alcohol Pearl Inks in Intrigue, Tranquil, Celestial, Envy and Villainous and simply added them to the black cardstock with some Blending Solution. You can use some IPA instead if you don't have blending solution. And it's important to note that this should be done in a well-ventilated area/room. The fumes can be strong. I didn't do anything too fancy, but just added the inks and used a blowing tool to move the inks around until I was satisfied.

After the panel was dry, I used the Woodware Worn Lines Stencil and some white pigment ink to fill in the stencil. This creates a nice haze of wavy sea lines in the background. I then heat embossed the image from the Seaside Dreamcatcher stamp set by Francoise Read. I used white EP for contrast and I also heat embossed the Bon Voyage sentiment. I cut this into a banner with diagonally cut edges and adhered this to a small strip of gold cardstock. I adhered the alcohol ink panel to a 5" x 7" white card base trimming the edges to create a border. Then I adhered the sentiment. I finished this card off with a few clear gems and some Diamond Stickles on the sailboat image.

Card 2 - Alcohol Inks on White Yupo

This card uses white Yupo with Ranger Alcohol Inks in Amethyst, Purple Twilight, Wild Plum, Pink Sherbet and Rose Gold Mixative. The panel is slightly smaller than 5" x 7" and again I just laid down my inks and blew them around with blending solution until I got the desired look.

Once the panel as dry, I heat embossed the Seaside Dreamcatcher in gold EP. To make the lines stand out a bit more, I drew shadow lines around the image with a Sakura white gelly roll pen. I heat embossed the sentiments from the same stamp set on dark blue cardstock with gold EP. I cut them out in banners and adhered them to the panel with foam square adhesive. I adhered the panel to a 5" x 7" white card base and embellished the design with Diamond Stickles and a few drops of Cosmic Shimmer Twinkles in Decadent Grape.

And that's my card inspo for today! I hope you like it and that you've been inspired to make something similar yourself. All of the products have been linked below for your shopping pleasure!
