The NEW BetterPress & Wax Seal Club Kits of the Month | Spellbinders Club Kits

   Hello Friends!

I'm here to share two NEW additions to the Spellbinders Club Kits - the BetterPress & Wax Seal Club Kits of the Month. I created 3 cards with the BetterPress and added the was seals I created with this month's Wax Seal of the Month. The wax seal coordinates perfectly with this and all the other kits (minus the card kit) for July! To get a better look at how these cards came together, I have included a reel in this post for your viewing pleasure! These sets called Poinsettia Joy and Poinsettia Frame will be available to purchase on subscription in the Spellbinders' store on July 6th!!

Here are more pictures of all 3 cards and close ups of the wax seals. The BetterPress is so simply and easy to use. Depending on your diecutting machine, you may have to play with sandwiches, but I used my Sizzix BigShot Plus and included all 3 shims.

This white version of this card was printed on the cotton paper that comes with the BetterPress System. It gives a nice and deep impression and I added colour with some Prisma Coloured Pencils.

This red card and the next were printed with Black BetterPress ink just like the first card. I kept these simple and did not add any extra colour, except for some clear gems. This red cardstock is thinner than the cotton paper and although it did not give as deep of an impression, you can see the results are still stunning.

This card was printed on Sizzix Gold Pearl cardstock and it's thickness is in between the white and red cardstock. It gives great results too. For all three cards, you can see that I added some coloured twine on the top left corner and attached the wax seals I created with the wax seal club kit.

Here's a look at one wax seal. I created these by adding one colour of wax beads (in this case 3 white beads) to the wax seal stamp and scraped off the excess so that it could fill the wells in the stamp. Then I added 4 Classic Crimson Wax Beads and stamped out the was seal as usual. This technique takes a bit of practice but is totally possible. To get a better idea of the process, please click the reel linked near the top of this post.

Here's a look at the gold and classic crimson wax seal. You can see that some of the poinsettia is missing but I think the beauty of wax seals is that they are imperfectly perfect. You might consider adding a gem there to cover up the imperfection if it really bugs you. However, I like it as is.

I do have 3 big tips for this particular wax seal and this technique.
1) Heat the wax seal stamp before adding the first colour of wax and scraping.
2) Pour the second wax colour in an oval shape to get a complete seal.
3) This stamp requires a longer wait time to cool. Allow at least 1 min for a perfect seal.

And here is a look at the classic crimson and gold seal. You can also acheive this look by simply colouring the embossed print with a gold paint marker. And for all 3 seals, I created my seals first and then attached them with foam adhesive over the twine rather than adding the wax directly to the card. I like this method best, but you can do what works for you.

And that's my inspiration for the July 2023 BetterPress & Wax Seal Kit of the Month!
