Altenew's August 2023 Craft Your Life Project Kit: Sweet Buttercups

  Hello Friends and Crafters!

I am super excited to be guest designing for Altenew again this month! Today I want to share some card inspo using the August 2023 Craft Your Life Project Kit called Sweet Buttercups. This is such a fun kit that includes a large stamp (with sentiments), coordinating dies, stencils and an embossing folder. Everything coordinates so seamlessly and I like that you can stamp, add colour and cut all of the images in one go through your diecutting machine. Then you can also add extra dimension with the embossing folder. This kit is available to current and new subscribers of this kit and the Ultimate Subscription Plan until September 2nd on the Altenew website only. So if you'd like to subscribe, you can do so here (https://shrsl.com/43sjz) or if you're a current subscriber you can look forward to receiving these goodies soon!

Card 1

So I made these first two cards using the stamp set, stamped out just once. I was able to get enough diecut florals and leaves to make two cards, which is always a plus when using one set! I simply stamped out the Sweet Buttercups and added ink with the amazing Altenew blending brushes, Altenew Crisp Dye Inks and the coordinating stencils. The Altenew Stampwheel is perfect for stamping and stenciling all in one go because of the sticky mat!

Next, I cut out the images using the die that cuts everything out in one go! (Another plus and time-saver!) I also added more texture and dimension by placing the die cuts into the coordinating embossing folder and dry embossing the images. Then all I had to do was place the desired die cuts around this hexagon frame on my card panel and card base. And for some fun I added not only the main sentiment in the window, but a small subsentiment along the straight edge of the window too.

Card 2

This card uses the leftover die-cut and embossed images except this time, I interchanged the white and purple cardstocks for a bit of an opposite look.

Card 3

My third and fourth cards use the same process of creation as the first 2 cards. I stamped, inked up, embossed and cut all the florals and leaves and made 2 cards out of them. This card uses black cardstock with the Exquisite Marble foil plate, foiled in polished brass foil. I added a rose gold heat embossed sentiment on a strip of white cardstock and arranged the florals as a focal point, adding foam adhesive for dimension.

Card 4

I arranged the fourth card in the same manner and this time I did some ink blending in the background. I added some ink splatter as well for a more artistic look. I think it's worth it to mention that you can emboss the images in 2 ways. You can simply place each individual die cut in the folder and tape it down with washi tape, then run it through your embossing folder. Or you can take the panel before diecutting and dry emboss it first. Then cut out the inages with the die. Of course this will flatten the dimension and you will have to re-emboss the images but having the initial embossing helps you accurately place the images back in the folder. I personally used both methods and althought the latter method has an extra step, I feel like the images turn out better!

And that wraps up my inspo for this kit! I hope you've been inspired by these cards and if you are looking to get this kit, you can subscribe to it by itself or as part of the Ultimate Subscription Plan (links at the end of this post) which includes all of the Altenew Marvelous Monthly Series kits! (note subscription window closes September 2nd)
