3D Birthday Inspiration Hop | Scrap 'N Stamp
Happy Hop Day!
Welcome to The 3D Birthday Inspiration Blog Hop with Scrap 'N Stamp! Our talented designers have created some 3D cards with a fun birthday theme this month. I'm such a sucker for florals so I used the Envelope of Wonder dies along with some other beautiful floral dies from Spellbinders to create a 3D envelope card bursting with flowers and balloons. All it took was a couple of modifications to the diecuts and the addition of 2 panels, which I'll go over in my blog post.
As always we’ll be giving away a $50 Gift Certificate to one lucky person who leaves a comment along the way. Every stop is another chance to win, so please share the love with each of the talented makers! We will announce the winner on the SNS blog at the end of the month!
Also be sure to check out the sale going on in the shop! SNS is offering 17% Off to celebrate Scrap 'N Stamp's 17th birthday !!
Here's the full hop order, in case you get lost along the way:
Hop List
My Inspo This Month
So as I mentioned, I used the Envelope of Wonder die set by Spellbinders. I cut out the full back of the envelope twice from white cardstock and once from coral cardstock (partially cut, as you can see part of the bottom is missing which is not needed). I cut the side flaps twice from white cardstock and the bottom flap once from white cardstock. I embossed the coral piece and the 3 flaps with the Rosette Burst 3D Embossing Folder. I also cut out the the thin triangular lip from white cardstock.
There are also 2 extra pieces that I cut seperately shown below (also in the bottom left of the picture above). These two rectangles are 2- 1/8" by 3-1/4" with vertical scorelines at 3/8" in from either edge of the rectangle.
Next, I attached the coral piece to one of the full backs of the envelope and added the traingular lip on top. I adhered the 3 embossed flaps onto the second full back envelope, placing the left and right flap down before the bottom flap. I cut off the overhanging edges which would usually be used to fold over the side. I also cut off the top of th efull back envelope and further into the envelope along the angles edges of the flaps. Then I adhered the two rectangle pieces we created by folding the scorelines and attaching these flaps to either side of the front and back envelope pieces. This creates the 3D pop up envelope.
Next I added yet another rectangular piece in the center of the envelope to provide more space to attach my florals. This piece is 5.5" by 2.5" with scorelines at 0.5" and 5". I cut a coral rectangular piece to match the inside of the envelope and attached this to the panel after embossing. Then I folded the scorelines and attached this piece to the center of the envelpe ensuring it would still fold flat.
Once you are done, you should end up with something that looks like this.
Next I cut, shaped and assembled a bunch of flowers from older Spellbinders sets (I've listed what I can find and alternatives in the supplies list). I also die cut some balloons out of gold specialty cardstocks. And I added some gold glitter branches from the Sealed Squiggles set.
Then all I had left to do was build up my bouquet inside the envelope. I used a mix of tape and liquid glue to attach the branches. And to reinforce the more delicate stems, I would attach the flower petals to surraounding branches or petals, if possible. Another option is to double or triple die cut and adhere together you stems to make them more sturdy.
The sentiment was letter pressed using one of the newer Spellbinders sets called Through the Meadow Sentiments. I used Garnet BetterPress ink to match the colorway for this card.
Finally, I added some gold glitter drops to the white envelope for some shine. I also added some of the drops to the center of the flowers. This entire card fold flat and fits into an A6 envelope (5.5" x 8.5").
And that's my inspiration for the hop. I hope I've inspired you to create something similar. Please don't forget to comment for a chance to win! All of the products used have been listed below for your shopping pleasure. And if you have any questions about the BetterPress, I've been using this for a long time now, so please do ask away!
Have a Great Day and Happy Hopping!
