Card Details & Ink Blending Technique

For today's project, I wanted to combine the sweet, emotional silhouette of the hands with a vibrant, glowing color palette. I started with a warm, soft peach cardstock panel to serve as a cozy background.

Laying the Baby’s Hand 6x6 Stencil over top, I used blending brushes to create a seamless, radiant rainbow transition directly across the larger hand silhouette using Distress Oxide Inks. I seamlessly blended together gorgeous, pastel shades of milled lavendar, scattered straw, tumbled glass, and cracked pistachio.

The magic of this design really happens in the negative space—by keeping the smaller baby's hand un-inked, it beautifully knocks back to the original peach background color. This creates a striking visual contrast that instantly draws your eye straight to the center of the card!

To frame this focal point elegantly, I added a thin, clean gold foiled border around the ink-blended panel, giving the entire project a polished, professional lift using the Altenew Frame Dies adn Sizzix Gold Cardstock.

The Finishing Touches

To complement the theme, I selected a beautiful sentiment: "A day spent with you is my favorite day."  from the A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments set from Spellbinders. I foiled this in a coordinating matte gold foil, diecut it, and popped it up on foam tape near the top edge of the card for a little added dimension.

For that extra touch of texture and magic, I scattered a few clear, glossy translucent droplets across the panel, mimicking delicate morning dew drops.
