The Design Details
This card is all about contrast—pairing a rich, moody purple background with bright, reflective silver accents to really make the geometric design pop.
The Shimmering Background: Instead of traditional ink blending, I created an easy, multi-toned watercolor background using Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Violet Brocade. If you haven't played with shimmer powders yet, they are pure magic! You get these incredible, unpredictable bursts of deep purple and bright violet pigment, all infused with a gorgeous built-in mica shimmer that catches the light beautifully.
The Mid Century Minimalist Stencil: Next, I secured the 6x9 Mid Century Minimalist stencil over the dried panel. To get that incredible, light-catching shimmer, I applied a generous layer of silver glitter paste (or metallic silver ink) through the stencil. The clean, retro curves and starburst shapes of this stencil look absolutely stunning in silver!
The Border: To ground the design and add an extra touch of glamour, I added a thin strip of silver glitter cardstock along the left edge of the card base.
The Sentiment: For the perfect metallic finish, I used a stunning foiled ephemera sentiment from Pinkfresh Studio. The bold, retro-style "show up & shine" sentiment was popped up with foam tape for some dimensional shadow, perfectly matching the silver glitter stenciling.
The Finishing Touches: To complete the look, I scattered a handful of clear, iridescent bubbles across the card. They mimic dew drops or floating bubbles and catch the purple tones from the background beautifully.
